About the Choir

Not at all – there’s no audition process, and previous singing experience isn’t required to join Sing the Musicals Choir. We’re all about having fun while immersing ourselves in the vibrant world of Musical Theatre!

Do not worry as there’s no need for members to be able to read music. All members receive lyric sheets and/or scores and songs are taught in a clear, approachable way that matches the choir’s pace. The arrangements are expertly crafted by Jon Ranger, a professional Musical Director with experience on both the West End and Broadway.

Lucy Holmes is a professional singer and pianist with a BA Hons in Music from The University of Leeds and an MA in Acting Musical Theatre from The Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She worked as a Musical Theatre Performer in London, UK Tours and onboard Cruise Lines. She worked for Disney Cruise Line in 2014 which was the highlight of her career. She has spent the last 10 years working as a Vocal Coach and Choir Leader and is so excited to be the proud owner of Sing The Musicals Choir.

Doors to our rehearsal open 20 minutes before the session begins, but members are welcome to arrive earlier if they’d like to socialise beforehand. Should you arrive early, please wait in the bar area at The Bridge Inn for our daytime choir or the inside atrium at Wirral Grammar School For Girls for our evening choirs.

Once the rehearsal doors open, there will be plenty of time to find a seat, get comfortable, and prepare for the session ahead. Each rehearsal will start with some fun vocal warm-ups, which will then lead into learning amazing show tunes for the rest of the session.

All music for your free taster session will be provided, so just bring a drink, a pencil for scribbles, and your enthusiasm to learn!

Once you become a member, you’ll gain access to our exclusive members’ area, where you’ll find everything you need to support your singing journey—including lyrics, scores, and vocal guide tracks to help you learn and perfect your parts.

No, your taster session is completely free so you can come along and get a feel for the choir. Once you are hooked, we’ll send you an email with information on how to become a choir member.

Yes there are performance opportunities throughout the year, including a special theatre concert to celebrate the choir at the end of each year. Don’t worry—if you’d prefer to just enjoy singing with us each week at rehearsals, without taking part in the gigs, that’s absolutely fine. Performances are completely optional.

For those who do take part, they’re a wonderful chance to share all the amazing songs we’ve been perfecting during our weekly rehearsals with the public—and they are lots of fun!

We sing all the favourites from the stage and screen. We combine classics such as West Side Story, Les Misérables and Little Shop Of Horrors with the more modern musicals such as Waitress, Matilda and Wicked. We also explore movie musicals such as The Greatest Showman, Grease and The Sound Of Music. And, of course we include some of the world famous Disney tunes in our repertoire.

Sing The Musicals Choir is somewhere for friendships to form and confidence to grow in an inclusive, warm and welcoming environment. Singing has some amazing health benefits and we aim to leave you with a big smile on your face and a spring in your step at the end of every session.
